Good Price on Not Your Daughter's Jeans...Maybe, for a While

For my 40 and over blog pals only, I guess.

I know a lot of us like the Not Your Daughter's Jeans jeans. I avoided trying them on for a long time, but finally succumbed, and now I see what everyone is so ecstatic about. Still, around $100 for a pair of jeans! Ridiculous. Thank God I found my first pair at a thrift.

Anyway, it seems that Amazon, in its quest for world domination, is now selling clothing. They have some NYDJ for a sort of good price. The strange thing is that the jeans were $53.00. I added them to my cart. They then went up to $98.00. I removed them from my cart. Now they are down in price once more.

Amazon has constantly--annoyingly--fluctuating prices. So, as they say in the coupon world, YMMV.

Hmmmm. Is Amazon on its way to world domination? I can't get the on sale jeans in a link, though I can in my own search.

Well, here's an example of sale jeans, though they are in the ponte model.

Thanks--I wouldn't have thought to look for these jeans on Amazon. In addition to the fluctuations in price, my other hesitation in buying them online is that this brand also tends to fluctuate in size. When I bought my first pair, the salesperson told me to try on a couple different pairs in my size. Good thing she did! Big variance.

I think Amazon offers free returns on much clothing. I wouldn't buy without that option. The ones I originally was looking at had all sizes except 10.

Good find!

What's about a designer label, though, that makes the jeans better than the Gloria's available at Costco for around 18 bucks?

Are they really better? I have a hard time getting the Cretaceous mind around a $50 price tag for a pair of jeans. Maybe it's because they're my uniform & I couldn't begin to stock my closet at that price.

Funny, it's a combination of the cut and the fabric that gives me a better fit. I'd rather pay more for jeans than for other items because I wear them so much.

Forgot to say I often find NYDJ's at Nordstrom Rack for $30 or $40. And I can try them on before buying!

@Funny--Try 'em on. I didn't believe the hype either.

@Sewing--I wash my one pair over and over! Good find at the Rack. We don't have one here. I've heard that they appear at TJMaxx and Marshalls. I seldom go to those stores. I may spring for the ones on Amazon....even on sale, a scary price for me.

I went to Fenwicks Department store a couple of weeks ago to try some of these jeans on, so I'd know what sizes to look for on eBay and the like. The price tag new was £130. I normally wear a 10 or 12 in trousers (UK sizes) and so started with an 8. Then a 6 and then a 4. I wasn't seeing any miracles to justify the price tag. The 4s were comfortable enough, but the 'whiskering' at the top of the legs told me they were probably too tight to be considered an elegant fit. Though the fabric was nice, I didn't think the back pockets were placed very well and I was altogether unimpressed. I think I can find jeans that I'm just as happy with for far less.

@Shelley--You are sooooo lucky, then. To my shock and amazement, I love the jeans and find them so comfy.

Also, check it out, HauteLook has them on sale as well for $39-59.

@Revanche--That is a good deal! Thanks. Those sites make me kind of nervous. I can't figure out the shipping rates...If I get something, do you want a referral?

I definitely spend more time perusing everything about shipping and returns on these special deal sites to be sure - what I can appreciate about HauteLook's items is they list by each item: "Returnable
Will arrive in 10-14 business days" or whatever the detail is.

As for rates.. for the sake of inquiry, I entered a sample order and it pulled up tax of $5.75 for a pair of $59 jeans and $7.95 shipping.

I don't know if it varies by location or weight or quantity, so I definitely agree they need more transparency there.

At any rate, if you'd like a referral to poke around before the sale ends Monday, I'd be happy to send you one!

@Revanche--Thanks! I'm not buying anything right now. Just realized that everything will be on sale in a few short weeks! By that time, I won't want it, I hope.
